Here is a “What” for the Black Community

What does make America great again mean for Black people???
In the year 1945 after World War II a song was written by Earl Hawley Robinson addressing discrimination. This was a time when America was great. We had to sing “We shall overcome”, in the 1960’s and struggle towards equality and we had contributed a lot to its greatness. Read the lyrics to this song and tell me if this is what’s meant or something else??????

If someone thinks America is not great, they must have missed the Soul Train Awards last night. There was a house full of some of the greatest entertainers in the world.

The House I Live In
sang by: Frank Sinatra

What is America to me
A name, a map, or a flag I see
A certain word, democracy
What is America to me

The house I live in
A plot of Earth, a street
The grocer and the butcher
And the people that I meet
The children in the playground
The faces that I see
All races and religions
That’s America to me

The place I work in
The worker by my side
The little town the city
Where my people lived and died
The howdy and the handshake
The air a feeling free
And the right to speak your mind out
That’s America to me

The things I see about me
The big things and the small
The little corner newsstand
Or the house a mile tall
The wedding and the churchyard
The laughter and the tears
The dream that’s been a growing
For a hundred and fifty years

The town I live in
The street, the house, the room
The pavement of the city
Or the garden all in bloom
The church the school the clubhouse
The million lights I see
But especially the people
That’s America to me

Who will be the Voice of the Black Community???

global-team-1238048[1]

We have now elected a new president of the USA. What does the Black community expect … Who will voice the needs of our people? We know we need Businesses and jobs: to maintain dignity, support, cloth, and feed our families, affordable housing: to eliminate any homelessness, living in shelters and hotels, education: that prepares young minds to contribute to the betterment of community and country. We recognizes all that we have contributed to this great nation and for others to realize, religion is deeply imbedded in our community. These are our goals we have been striving to acquire for all our people and someday will accomplish. It was great to see the large number of Black people who went to the polls this election day. We are headed in the right direction and moving forward, a little at time, for the benefit of our people.

“Why Black People Must Vote”

global-team-1238048[1]

Why we need to vote?? It is the best way to have our voices heard. Politian’s govern according to the needs or demands of their constituents. The Black vote is a large block when we come out to the poles in numbers. In local elections especially because we can be the difference in a candidate winning or losing. That is why some elected officials pass laws making it difficult for Blacks to register or cast their ballots in certain districts. Many of our people paid a heavy price so that we might have this right and we are now in a position where we can use it or lose it. When you cast your ballot on Election Day, you are voting for Freedom, Justice and Equality for your people in The United States of America. As Martin Luther King once said, “Free at Last, Free at Last , Thank God Almighty, We are Free At Last”.
